Visiting the North Olympic Peninsula

Visiting here can be a dream weekend, an unforgettable wedding, or taking a hike for a week or two on endless miles of leisure nature trails.

Or if that's not your cup of tea, try some of our world famous extreme surf spots at Neah Bay or snowboarding at Hurricane Ridge.  When was the last time you heard the waterfall in the forest?

What you see is, three worlds in one

Three ecological and geological extremes coexist in close proximity.

  • The last wilderness beaches in the lower 48 states.
  • In the rain forest, ferns grow to prehistoric size and moss hangs like drapery from the branches of ancient trees.
  • In the world's only coniferous rain forests, you'll find the world's largest specimens of western cedar and Sitka spruce.
  • In the alpine areas, rugged mountains wear wildflowers and rise in a blink from near sea level to six and seven thousand feet. Their glacial melt fills the rivers with a nourishing rage in the spring.

We take C.A.R.E. to live happy and healthy lives

C.A.R.E is a community with culture, arts, recreation and events

Culture- Come over for the culture, learn about life. On the northwestern shores of what is now America, you will find the ancestral home of the Makah, or "Kwih-dich-chuh-ahtx," or "people who live by the rocks and seagulls." The name Makah was given them by neighboring tribes and means "Generous with food."

Along with the Makah, other tribes indigenous to our county are the Jamestown S'Klallam, Lower Elwha, Quileute and the Hoh.

In addition, Clallam County has numerous Museums, wildlife and culture centers you can visit.

Arts

We understand the importance of art in our everyday lives as we share it with our children. We attract the best to our area and artists thrive on the creativity found in nature.

Recreation

When guests first arrive to our region they can feel the stress of the work week dissipate as soon as they drive across the Hood Canal bridge. We understand how our naturally beautiful region and abundant outdoor recreation turns short-term visitors into lifelong residents.

Events and Entertainment

We are not just a summer show. We keep things grooving all year long.

Check out the list that has something for everyone, all year around.
