Quality
of Life
Once you experience the environment of the Olympic Peninsula, you'll discover why it's also a great place to live. Here are some of the awesome sites for you to visit:
- Port Angeles Harbor
is possibly one of the three best deep water harbors in the world
- along with Rio de Janeiro and Brisbane, Australia;
- The Olympic National Park
is nearly a million acres in size, with 95 percent designated as wilderness
and is crisscrossed by nearly 600 miles of beautiful hiking trails;
- Olympic National Park was designated a World Heritage Site in 1981
and served more than 3.6 million visitors in 2002;
- The Olympic Peninsula has an eco-climate like none other. To the
west, the Hoh Rainforest
collects 140 - 167 inches of rain per year, while the rain shadow
of the Olympic Mountains keeps the farms and lavender fields of Dungeness
Valley much drier;
- The Dungeness
Spit measures three miles long and is the world's longest naturally
formed spits.
